From One Woman's Dream

to a future for 640 children.

What began as a single act of compassion became a lifelong commitment to vulnerable children in Kenya.

TIMELINE

1998

Mogra Star Academy was established to ensure children had access to stable education.

2004

Mama Hannah opened her doors to children who needed safety, food, and care.

2007

Mogra Rescue Centre officially began operations as a residential home for vulnerable children.

Today

Mogra supports over 640 children through residential care, education, healthcare, and transition programmes.

It started with one child.

Mama Hannah believed every child deserved safety, dignity, and the opportunity to dream beyond their circumstances.

In the late 1990s, Mrs Wairimu Njoroge began welcoming vulnerable children into her home after witnessing increasing cases of neglect, abandonment, and unsafe living conditions affecting children in her community.

What began with food, shelter, and compassion slowly became something much larger: a permanent commitment to protecting children and rebuilding futures.

As the number of children grew, so did the need for structure, education, healthcare, and long-term support — eventually leading to the creation of Mogra Children’s Centre.

Her vision continues to shape Mogra’s work today: not simply caring for children in crisis, but helping them build futures filled with possibility.

What She Believes Matters:

Rescue: Every child deserves protection, safety, and care.

Education: Education creates confidence, dignity, and opportunity.

Community: Healing happens through belonging and consistent support.

Independence: Children deserve the tools to build stable adult lives.
